2026 2CV Raid Southland

Although there is much uncertainty regarding fuel availability and price as well as ferry reliability for the most part of this year, we are hopeful that these issues will be stabilised by November.

With this in mind we are progressing the planning for Raiding the southern extremities of our beautiful country.

 

Below is a form for you to complete to show your interest in Raid Southland.

    Raid Southland introduction
    The following information is tentative and will depend upon the number of people who indicate they wish to join the Raid. Accommodation has been checked as being available but not booked yet. The Raid begins in Dunedin on the evening of the 15th November. The Raid ends in Cromwell on the 24th November. That's 10 nights
    Raid Catlins overview.
    2 nights in Dunedin 15th and 16th November. The Raid will start in Dunedin with a dinner on the evening of the 15th November. Taieri Gorge Railway tour, Larnach Castle, 2 nights in Owaka (or nearby) , two route options between Dunedin and Owaka. Lawrence Gold experience Explore the Catlins on day 2. Purakanui falls, Matai Falls, The Lost Gypsy, Waikawa Museum, Curio Bay, Cathedral Caves, McLean Falls 2 nights in Invercargill Bill Ritchies Transport World, Classic Motorcycle Mecca, Museums, Fly to Stewart Island, Museums,City walks, Water tower etc. 2 nights at Borland Lodge (Fiordland National Park, or nearby) Borland pass to southern arm of Lake Manapouri, Lake Hauroko Jet 1 night in Te Anau Glow worm caves 1 night at Cromwell (optional routes between Te Anau and Cromwell depending upon weather) optional extension 1. an additional night in Cromwell Drive the northern section of thew Nevis road, over Duffers Saddle lunch on the Nevis Optional extension 2. the skippers road and onto Wanaka. This will very much be determined by weather. Need at least 3 vehicles for safety on the skipper road. Should also have chains in case of slippery or snowy conditions Mote details on places of interest we will visit will be provided once we have the number of people interested and appropriate accommodation sorted. Raiders may join and leave the Raid as they wish. Please check the boxes below for those days you plan to be on the Raid including the two optional days. The first option is provided to enable you to avoid having to select all the Raid boxes and the second option, avoids you having to select the two option boxes. There is also planned a pre-raid tour commencing in Christchurch on the 12th November.
    Pre-Raid Tour.
    The plan is to start in Christchurch on the morning of the 12th November and travel to Dunedin over 3 nights, with stops at Lake Ohau and Ranfurly arriving in Dunedin on the afternoon of the 14th November, the day before the Raid begins. That gives a day to explore Dunedin before the Raid dimnner on the 15th November. You will also have a full day on day 2 of the Raid (16th November) to further explore Dunedin. If there is enough interest the tour may start in the North Island.
