The International Citroën Car Clubs Rally (ICCCR) which was intended to be run this year in Toruń/Poland, will be postponed to 2024. Below please find the official press statement:
Dear Citroën Friends,
The Automobile Club of Toruń together with City Authorities are very sorry to inform you that the ICCCR has to be moved to the year 2024. The new term of ICCCR 2024 Poland will be 14-18.
Further Information.
As most of you might have already read via our ACI newsletter or other sites, the ICCCR Toruń organization team has decided to postpone the International Citroën Car Clubs Rally by another two years, now to 2024.
The decision was taken in alignment with both the city of Toruń as well as with the ACI Board and also with L’Aventure, and has been primarily based on the feedback given to the organizers who attended a number of Citroën-related events and fairs throughout the recent years and months, on the rather low number of registrations so far and also the recent developments in politics and society, the Ukrainian war and its impact also on Poland, the economy, inflation and rising costs, and last but not least the pandemics – all these factors were not at all on the horizon when the team applied for hosting the ICCCR as the “Event Of The Year” (EOTY).
The ACI Board has been in a close dialogue with the organizers and has discussed various options on how to proceed. Basically, 3 different variants were finally on the table:
- execute the ICCCR anyways
- completely cancel the ICCCR in Toruń
- postpone it by two years (no EOTY so far foreseen in 2024)
and a number of consequences, downsides and upsides, were iterated, and the decision was made to go for a postponement as best option.
Our key message now is, first of all:
Big “Kudos” to the Polish organizers who have been keeping the spirit up since 2020 and had not given up in advocating and advertising for the ICCCR in Poland also in difficult times during the pandemic, and also their willingness to once more prepare for the World Meeting of all Citroën fans, despite of the really challenging situation and factors mentioned above, in two years from now.
We AND YOU need to support them in their engagement and show the same perseverance when communicating back to your clubs:
The ICCCR has a future and the global network of Citroën clubs stands behind them in preparing for 2024.
We count on your support. Thank you!
On behalf of the ACI Board
