SUMMARY:Glen Afton Railway Line and Ride
DESCRIPTION:This 110 year old railway line was built in order to carry coal
  from Pukemiro to Huntly\, before closing in 1973. We meet at 10 on 1 Febr
 uary at The Point\, in Ngaruawahia\, at the end of Bandstand Rd\, off Lowe
 r Waikato Esplanade. This is where the big awa of the region\, the Waipa a
 nd the Waikato\, meet. There is plenty of parking and public toilets.\n\nF
 rom there we will depart around 10.15 to Pukemiro Junction\, our starting 
 point for the train ride. We will travel via Waingaro Rd and then Rotowaro
  Rd. Nice sealed and scenic roads\, a trip of around 25 minutes. Tickets w
 ill be purchased on site for those who want a ride\, $10 per person.\n\nAf
 ter the ride we will continue on Rotowaro Rd towards Huntly. A brief stop 
 by Tainui Bridge for a photo opportunity\, before returning to Ngaruawahia
  for lunch via Riverview Rd. Lunch is at Breaking Bread Café on Great Sou
 th Rd cnr of Newcastle St. Plenty of angle parking on Newcastle St.\n\nAll
